9. Members of the Indian Drafting Committee

The Indian Drafting Committee, set up in 1947, was responsible for preparing the broad framework of the Indian Constitution. The committee consisted of seven members, with Dr. B. R. Ambedkar as its chairman.
Dr. Ambedkar, known as the chief architect of the Constitution, played a key role in drafting the provisions relating to fundamental rights, social justice and the structure of the Indian state. His deep understanding of law and social equality shaped the framework of the Constitution.
Other key members were Sir Alladi Krishnaswamy Ayyar, who made significant contributions to legal interpretations and the protection of individual rights, and K. M. Munshi, who focused on issues of federal structure and governance. N. Gopalaswami Ayyanger provided expertise in drafting, while T. T. Krishnamachari and M. Anandasayanam Ayyanger provided important perspectives on finance, administration and legal matters. Their collective efforts ensured that the Constitution reflected India's diversity and democratic aspirations, and created a holistic and inclusive legal framework.
