6. Ashoka Chakra and Ashoka Pillar

The Ashoka Chakra and Ashoka Pillar are prominent symbols of India's rich historical and cultural heritage.

Ashoka Chakra

The Ashoka Chakra, also known as the Dharma Chakra, is represented as a wheel with 24 spokes. The wheel symbolizes justice, morality and perpetual motion. It was adopted by Emperor Ashoka, and today it is located in the middle of the Indian national flag, which has become a symbol of the Constitution and the moral values of the nation.

Ashoka Pillar

The Ashoka pillars were erected by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BC. These pillars were erected at various places to propagate Buddhism and spread the message of Dharma (Dhamma). The Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath, which has a sculpture of four lions, is today the national emblem of India.

Both symbols reflect India's identity as a just, pious and peace-loving nation.
