3. New Parliament

The Parliament of India is the supreme legislative body of the country. It follows a bicameral (two-house) structure, consisting of the following:
- Lok Sabha (People's Representative Assembly) – It is the lower house of the Parliament, whose members are directly elected by the people. Its maximum membership can be 552, but currently it has 543 elected members. Its sessions are presided over by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
- Rajya Sabha (Council of States) – It is the upper house of the Parliament, whose members are indirectly elected by the Legislative Assemblies of the States. Its maximum membership can be 250, while currently it has 245 members. The Vice President of India is its ex-officio Chairman.
- President of India – He is the constitutional head of the Parliament, who summons, dissolves the Parliament and assents to bills.
